The Roman Wall of Lugo in Spain

The Roman Wall of Lugo is already, officially, World Heritage. The World Heritage Committee, meet in Cairns (Australia), decided on 30th of November 2000 to include the monument in the World Heritage list. It supposes the universal recognition of The Wall and a guarantee for its conservation and rehabilitation.

Lugo was a party yesterday. The process for the declaration of the Wall as part of the World Heritage was very long, more than two years in this last attempt. It`s not an exageration to say that the city of Lugo at plain had made a big efford to obtain this objetive. The monografic web about the monument, sited in http://www.concellodelugo.org/muralla , made by Desarrollos Lugonet, S.L by order of the Lugo Council, is an initiative that continues being effective in Internet and that helps to document the immense value of the Wall.

Projects like "Cumulum", that covered the Wall with books donated by authors and organizations from all around the world, just to emphasize the cultural value of the monument, or "Comilonum", a popular lunch in a big table all along the perimetre (more than 2 km.) of the Wall, and also the intense activity of the Institutions of Galicia an Lugo, have concluded today happily with the decision of the World Heritage Committee.
