On the mountain of Pindos and in an altitude of 1200 meters, archaeologists discovered the remains of ancient Aiginion. The site is located near the area of Kastri, a few kilometers away from the town of Polyneri in the Greek prefecture of Grevena, Epirus.
Prof. Stella Drouggou of the University of Thessaloniki and her team found a great number of bronze and silver coins that date to the times of Alexander III (the Great) of Macedonia. They depict Hercules and are inscribed with the word ALEXANDROS in Greek. Most probably the town was first inhabited in the prehistoric times, flourished between the 4th and th 1st c. BCE and was destroyed by the Romans in 150 BCE.

A Mycenaean cemetery was found in the area of Glyka Nera, Palini, Attica, Greece. The archaeologists discovered 59 graves, 23 of which belong to the 'tholos' type grave of the Mycenaean period. The tombs date between the 14th and the 12th c. BCE. It is believed that they belong to the Mycenaean town of Palini, the modern equivalent of which is located a few hundred meters away.

A 4000 years old Settlement on Karpathos
Karpathos is a Greek island between Rhodes and Crete. Prof. M.Melas and his students of the University of Thrace unearthed a Minoan period settlement on the southern part of the island. They found remains of a house and a vase (left) that dates to the neo palatial period (16th-15th c. BCE).
Greek Archaeologists in Alexandria, Egypt, discovered a 2nd c. CE ship that carried wine vases (right). The wreck was found to be 80 m. away from the coast and in a depth of no more than 14 m.
