Athens Airport Archaeological Museum

A new museum has opened its doors to the public. It is a walk-in and entrance free archaeological museum located on the upper level of the newly constructed ‘Eleutherios Venizelos’ airport building in Athens, Greecce. The exhibits include the archaeological findings that were unearthed during the construction of the airport and include prehistoric, archaic, classical, and Byzantine items. The archaeologists concluded that the area has been continuously inhabited since about 3000 BCE.

New Museum at Mycenae

A new museum was built at Mycenae to house 1.680 items among the hundreds of thousands that have been unearthed during the 130 years of archaeological excavations. The visitor is first introduced to the archaeological site of Mycenae through plans, pictures and electronic media. Then, room A houses exhibits that show life in the Mycenaean age and room B life after life of the Mycenaean world. In Room C the visitor can understand how the area of Mycenae changed during the archaic, classical and later periods and the expansion of the Mycenaeans from the 15th to the 12 th centiry BCE.
